Homage to Guastavino - The Schubert of the Pampas

CARLOS GUASTAVINO (1912-2000) is one of the most prestigious Argentinean composers of the 20th century and I wish to honor him with this album, my personal tribute, after more than 100 years of his birth. He is known for his “unique melodic gift” and his refreshing charm, for which he became known as “THE SCHUBERT OF THE PAMPAS”. The rhythms and melodies of his music with sometimes folkloristic inspiration, combined with European styles, have made him known beyond the geographic boundaries of his native country. Nevertheless I would like to get more people enthusiastic about his music. You will find very exquisite works for piano solo, a fine selection of songs - among them the famous “La rosa y el sauce” - as well as interesting duo chamber music works for flute, clarinet and viola. This is the musical journey that I want to share with you. I hope you enjoy listening to this album as much as I have enjoyed recording it.
