In the beginning AGRYPNIE was originated by Torsten as a solo project and as a refuge for his song ideas long before the well-known avant-garde black metal institution Nocte Obducta parted ways. After the break up of Nocte Obducta and a split release with the German death metal outfit Fated, with the first full length album “F51.4”, AGRYPNIE proved to be grown from a solo project to a serious band. The album was released at the end of 2006 and has casted a spell over many listeners with its unique cold atmosphere. Having finished the recordings for “F51.4”, Torsten already started to write songs for the successor “Exit”. With a full functional line up including a real drummer, “Exit” sounded a lot more organic than the debut where Torsten used a drum machine. A lot of live appearances with enthusiastic responses from the fans followed, e.g. the Summer Breeze Open Air 2008. Now, a year after the last album, AGRYPNIE are already coming up with a new album, a black metal bastard which combines all trademarks of the previous albums. Put to tape in a record time and despite a playtime of more than 72 minutes, “16[485]” offers a level of variety which can be rarely found in black metal last but not least due to contributions from Mathias Grossow and Alboin (Geist), creating a remarkable sound - both, aggressive and exceptionally ambitious at the same time… Noch bevor sich das Ende der allseits bekannten Avantgarde Black Metal Institution Nocte Obducta abzeichnete, rief Nocte Obducta Sänger Torsten AGRYPNIE ins Leben, zunächst als Solo-Projekt und Auffangbecken für Songwriting-Ideen. Mit dem Ende von Nocte Obducta und nach einer Split-Veröffentlichung mit den deutschen Death Metallern Fated zeichnete sich für AGRYPNIE immer mehr die Entwicklung von einem Projekt hin zu einer ernsthaften Band ab, was zunächst im Full-Length Debüt „F51.4“ gipfelte, das Ende 2006 mit seiner kalten Atmosphäre bereits einige Hörer in seinen Bann ziehen konnte. Nach Abschluss der Album-Arbeiten zu „F51.4“ befand sich bereits das Folgewerk „Exit“ in der Entstehung. Durch ein funktionierendes Line-Up mit einem Drummer aus Fleisch und Blut hatte „Exit“ einen organischeren Sound als das Debüt, wo sich AGRYPNIE noch eines Drum Computers bedienen mussten. Diverse Live-Auftritte mit euphorischen Reaktionen seitens der Fans folgten, u.a. auf dem Summer Breeze 2008. Nun, wieder ein Jahr nach dem letzten Album, stehen AGRYPNIE bereits mit dem nächsten Album vor der Tür, einem schwarzmetallischem Bastard aus allen bisherigen Alben der Bandgeschichte. In Rekordzeit aufgenommen und sicher nicht zuletzt dank der Gastbeiträge von Mathias Grossow und Alboin (Geist) bietet „16[485]“ trotz einer epischen Spielzeit von über 73 Minuten Abwechslungsreichtum, wie man ihn im Black Metal selten findet.
