Main Nahi Makhan Khayo - Surdas
Poem by blind poet Surdas from 15th century about young Krishna. Krishna was brought up in a foster home of Nand and Yashoda. The poet describes young Krishnas antics. Krishna would steal butter from the kitchen, but would deny it when confronted by Yashoda. In this song he gives all kinds of false denials and in the end lays guilt on Yashoda. He tells her " you are accusing me of stealing butter because you are not my real mother !" Yashoda fully being aware of these false denials still hugs him with tearful eyes.
