The Varkaris: Ecstasy Through Music
Bhajan, or the musical rendering of devotional verses, occupies a unique position in the spiritual, cultural and musical traditions of Maharashtra, India. Saint poets of Maharashtra used bhajan as a medium to propagate their teachings among the people. This album showcases the bhajan tradition of Maharashtra’s Varkari sect which has the god Shree Vitthal as the central figure.
