Drumas & Percussion Acoustic Music

Jozef „Dodo“ Šošoka had belonged for almost forty years between the top drums and percussion solo players. He was accepted internationally. Thanks the studying at Berklee College of Music, he could cooperate with many world-known jazz artists. He organized international projects and also performed in Europe, USA and Africa and co-played with a huge amount of jazz icons such as Charlie Mariano, Linda Sharrock, Hans Koller, Phil Wilson, Lee Konitz, Tomasz Stanko, Larry Smith, Rick Margitza, Jeff Gardner, Barbara Montgomery, Lee Harper, Lils Mackintosh, Etta Cameron, Monty Waters, Piotr Baron, Heinrich von Kalnein, Wolfgang Pusching, Harry Sokal, Karen Edwards, Rick Keller, Atila Zoller, Aladár Pege, Barbara Dennerlein, Wayne Darling, Jarek Smietana, Paulo Cardoso, Jan Jankeje, Tom Nicholas, Birelli Lagrene, Eugen Cicero, Wolfgang Lackerschmied, Jay Clayton, John Purcell, Cathy-Segal Garcia, Leila Thigpen, Antonio Ciacca, Juraj Bartoš, Karel Ružička, Petr Kořínek, Jaromír Hnilička, Oliver Kent, Herwig Gradischnig, Karl Ratzner, Dušan Húščava, Jan Hajnal, Gabriel Jonáš, Damon Brown, Hannes Beckman, Oscar Klein, Charly Antolini, Steve Kirby, Anna-Lisa Kirby, Tominho Horta, Rudi Berger, Alan Praskin, Christian Jacob, Larry Porter, Anca Parghel, Anna Lauvargnac, Karl Sayer, Uli Scherer, Achim Tang, Viktor Zappner, Andy MacKee. Dodo was a member and establisher of Czechoslovakian and American Jazz Quartet which recorded “Bob Top” CD. He was also the establisher of Slovak Jazz Quartet. In 1995 he recorded CD called “Larry Smith and company live at Slovak philharmony. He was a member of Prague Jazz Quartet and cooperated with well-known saxophonist John Purcell on the “WORLD JAZZ MUSIC” solo project. He also played some solo concerts in Warsaw, Jeruzalem, Copenhagen, Berlin, Vienna, Budapest, Gyor, Tokio, Novi Sad, Bratislava, Trnava, Levoča, Piešťany, Schwabisch Hall, Passau, Sofia, Moscow. Dodo was awarded Leo Danihels Prize for music. He was also given the Slovak Music Fond prize for lifelong work and for propagation of jazz music in Slovakia and abroad. In 2006, Dodo was awarded Piešťany Mayor Prize and became the culture icon of the town of Piešťany for the year 2005.
