In den USA nahm Victor 1907/08 23 Titel mit Constantino auf (davon blieben vier Titel unveröffentlicht). Obwohl Constantinos Columbia Aufnahmen von 1909/10 zu seinen am meisten verbreiteten und aufnahmetechnisch besten Aufnahmen zählen, zeigen ihn diese Victor-Aufnahmen in stimmlich noch etwas besserer und frischerer Verfassung. In the USA, Victor recorded 23 titles with Constantino in 1907/08 (four of which were never issued). Although Constantino’s Columbia recordings of 1909/10 were among his most widely distributed and also his best with regard to sound quality, his voice sounds better and fresher in these Victor recordings. Fünf Jahre älter als Caruso gehörte Constantino der letzen Tenor-Generation „ante Caruso“ an und verkörperte die Tugenden der „alten Schule“. Trotz einer großen Karriere und zahlreichen Aufnahmen ist ihm ein verdienter Platz unter den großen Tenören bis heute ein wenig verwehrt geblieben. Five years older than Caruso, Constantino was part of the last “ante-Caruso” generation of tenors and embodied the virtues of the “old school”. The beauty of Constantino’s timbre and the absolute effortlessness with which he sings are immediately evident. His voice has an unmistakable character marked by a round, compact sound and a rapid, regular vibrato. Despite his outstanding career and numerous recordings Constantino has never quite been granted his place among the truly great tenors, although he certainly belongs there.
