Fred Bellewood trat 1977 erstmals als Mitbegründer und Frontman der damals beinahe revolutionären CH -Country-Band "GREEN FREEDOM" vor ein breiteres, helvetisches Publikum. Keine andere Band dieses Genres präsentierte zu dieser Zeit ein Konzert - Repertoire, das zu 90% aus Songs des Singer/Songwriters F. Bellewood bestand, welche auch heikle politische und soziale Themen beschrieben.
Dies bescherte der Band Anerkennung und Erfolg! Trotzdem löste sich die Green Freedom 1985 auf. Fred Bellewood aber machte weiter sein Ding: Er tourte fortan als "one man country-show" quer durchs In- und benachbarte Ausland. Und dies’ erfolgreich: Um seiner mittlerweile zahlreichen Fan-Gemeinde den Genuss seiner Musik jederzeit zu ermöglichen, produzierte er 1994, gemeinsam mit Phil Carmen und der Mitwirkung namhafter Studiomusikern, seine erste Solo- CD "Hot Wind".
Mit Ausnahme des Titels “Riders On The Storm“(The Doors) finden sich auf dieser Scheibe ausschliesslich Songs, die seiner Feder entstammen.

Fred grew up on the country side of Zurich, Switzerland.
Since times of childhood, Fred wanted to be on stage; performing such music that would touch listeners same way as it touches him. Soon he realized: it must be some kind of Irish or American Folk and Country music. And he wanted to write his own songs.
Therefore he had to learn the language of his favorite music. Records of Johnny Cash, Gordon Lightfoot, Bob Dylan, Crosby, Stills Nash and Young, The Birds, CCR and many more, combined with some years on the road, taught him English he uses today, writing song lyrics.
All attempts to succeed commercially were in vain; because Switzerland's market for this kind of music is quiet too small.
That’s why Fred does an industrial job to make a living, but still writing songs and sometimes performing as Fred Bellewood’s one man country-show.
