Leave Me

Die Producer Johan Johanson & Johannes Semf sind schon lange keine Unbekannten auf den Clubbühnen des Landes mehr. Auf j.hruza records geben die beiden nun mit „Leave Me“ ihr erstes musikalisches Statement als Duo ab. Nachdem sie in der Vergangenheit viel herumgekommen sind, musikalisch, wie örtlich, bildet Wien mittlerweile die Homebase der zwei. Starke Sehnsüchte nach Sommer und Sonne wollten sie erzeugen, den Sommer sozusagen einfangen. Mit ihrem Mix aus lockerem House, angereichert mit einer Portion Soul und einem stetigen Groove funktioniert das hervorragend. Auf dem ersten – und dem für den Release namensgebenden – Track, „Leave Me“, unterstützt Vocalistin Shelly Phillips das Duo. Sie gibt dem Stück eine besonders soulige Note, während es nebenher verspielt zu grooven beginnt. Auch die zweite Nummer, „Inside“, präsentiert sich ähnlich, wird konkreter und wendet sich intensiver dem Dancefloor zu. Danach zeigt „The Street“ unterstützt von Stefanie Schneider, die herbstliche und durchaus mystische, fast ernste, Seite von Johan Johanson und Johannes Semf. Abgerundet wird all das von einer Groove-Bombe namens „Mountain“, zart und doch intensiv bringt dieser Track den Release zu einem clubbigen Abschluss. For some years now Johan Johanson & Johannes Semf have been creating a high profile on austrian stages. Now, with “Leave Me”, they release their first musical statement as a duo. They’ve gotten around a lot, locally and musically, but Vienna has become their home base. Their primary ambition with this EP was to capture the summer and create a craving for the sun. With a mix of laid-back house, enriched with a portion of soul and a steady groove, they’re on the right road. On their first single “Leave Me“, vocalist Shelly Phillips supports the duo. She adds an exceptionally soulful note to the track which compliments the groove and creates a playful buildup. The second tune “Inside” presents itself in a similar light, but develops into a more intense dance floor groover. “The Street“, a collaboration with Stefanie Schneider shows the autumnally, quite mystic and almost wholehearted side of Johan Johanson & Johannes Semf. To finish of the EP a delicate, yet intense groove bomb named “Mountain” takes the release to the clubby finish it deserves.
