Bonnie Lee started out as a piano player for her church in Beaumont, immediately after that she began singing with local bands around Beaumont and Port Arthur, Texas.Nick Holt was the younger brother of Morris Holt (Magic Slim). He started his vocal career in the church as a child but did not really turn to music until 1960.Earl Howell started to play piano and saxhophone, although he got his first set of drums in 1967.
