Robert Shaw followed the itinerant group who played hot barrelhouse piano in the wide-open Brazos River bottom towns of Sugar Land and Richmond, along West Dallas Street in Houston's Fourth ward, and in the whorehouses of Galveston's Post office districtLavada Durst (Dr. Hepcat) in the late 1040s Durst made jive talk the hallmark of his radio show, which was on the air from 10:30 to 11:30 p. m., Monday through Friday, and from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on SaturdayAlex Moore saw his first pianos in the early 1900s in the homes of "white folks" on Ross Avenue, when he worked as a grocery delivery boy.
